Janice E. Hosmer, 71, of Sunman passed away Friday, October 4, 2019 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. Janice was born Friday, April 2, 1948 in Batesville, the daughter of Harvey and Dorothy (Brandt) Lauber.

She was a former employee at the Osgood Shoe Factory. She was the former owner of Hosmer’s Restaurant in Sunman. Janice was a very active member of St. Paul Methodist Church serving on the board of directors as church secretary and treasurer, also serving as sexton of the St. Paul Cemetery Board. She was a former EMS member for 30 yrs., serving on Sunman Life Squad, which later led her to becoming a paramedic for 17 yrs., EMS coordinator for Margaret Mary Hospital/Health for 20 yrs., primary instructor for EMT classes in Ripley County for 25 yrs., served on the Critical Incident Stress Management Team (CISM) for 15 yrs., and was very active attending meetings on the state level. Her hobbies included stained glass artwork and hand-crafting all occasion cards. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

Janice is survived by sons: Darrell (Chris) Hosmer of Sunman and Mark “Doc” (Michele) Hosmer of Dillsboro; brothers: Robert (Posey) Lauber of Sunman and Donald (Peggy) Lauber of Florida; sister Bernetta Dobson of Sunman; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Esther Edmondson.

A service celebrating her life will be held 10 a.m., Friday, October 11 at St. Paul Methodist Church, Sunman with Pastor William Helms officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Methodist Cemetery, Sunman. Family and friends may gather to share and remember her 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday, October 10 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan.
