Jeraldine “Jeri” Kathryn Smith, 83, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, in Lawrenceburg, IN.

She was born November 24, 1939, in Cross Plains, IN, daughter of the late Dietrich Iceberg and Clara (Voris) Iceberg.

Jeri worked as a Registered Nurse for Dearborn County Hospital (17 years) and St. Elizabeth Edgewood, retiring after over 47 years of service.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aurora for over 40 years. She was also a member of her church’s American Baptist Women’s Ministries, including serving as its president one year. Jeri also attended Beecher Presbyterian Church with her daughter Margo and Pastor Robert Northcutt.

Jeri took great care of her family; and, family functions were very important to her. She was an avid card player, she enjoyed Euchre and Rook. Jeri loved boating, and traveling with her husband George.

Jeraldine is survived by her daughters, Margo (Robert) Northcutt of Richmond, VA, Alicia Smith (Gil Alford) of Florence, KY; brother, George (Barb) Iceberg of Cross Plains, IN; brother-in-law, John Steuver of Dillsboro, IN, sister-in-law, Janet Iceberg of Bear Branch, IN; grandchildren, Miranda (Dwight) Watson, Bobby Northcutt, and Ryan Smith (Kristen Pierson); great-grandchildren, twins, Tyus and Kaya Watson; many nieces & nephews, several great nieces & nephews and even some great-great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dietrich and Clara Iceberg; husband, George Luther Smith; brother, Ervin Iceberg; sisters, Marlene Steuver and Stella Guiltner.

Friends gathered Monday, July 31, 2023, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN. 47001.

Services were held at 1:00 pm with Pastor Robert Northcutt officiating. Interment followed in the St. Paul’s Cemetery, Cross Plains, IN.

Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Baptist Women’s Ministries. Donations made to Alzheimer’s will be going with Margo to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s-RVA, in memory of Jeri. The walk will be held in November. Visit: www.rullmans.com
