Joan Dicus

Joan Dicus, 86, of Versailles passed away at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2020 at her home. She was born near New Marion on November 30, 1933 the daughter of Bernice and Eva Reynolds Chandler.


Mrs. Dicus was a 1951 graduate of New Marion High School. She was a homemaker and for 35 years was part owner of Dicus Farm Supply and other businesses in Hanover. She also helped manage the family farm and was a former employee of the Hanover Insurance Agency and Madison Electronics in Versailles. Joan enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved to go to bingo with her sister June. Joan was a member of the New Marion Baptist Church and attended the West Fork Baptist Church.


Survivors include one son Donald Dicus of Lexington, IN; three daughters Rhonda Bradford of Rexville, Resa (Jim) Hoffman of Madison, and Carla Dicus (Shawn) of Hanover; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; one brother Gene Chandler of Greensburg; two sisters Elizabeth Warth of Cincinnati and June Walker of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary, granddaughter Crystal Dicus, great-grandson Hudson Scott, her brother Robert Chandler, and her sisters Catherine Grigsby, Lila Pickett, Betty Adams, and Shirley Patrick Benedict.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Graveside services follow at 12:30 p.m. at the West Fork Cemetery with Rev. Karen Reynolds officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the West Fork Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
