Marjorie Ahrens

Marjorie R. Ahrens, 89, of Batesville passed away at 2:54pm, Sunday, November 13, 2022 at her home. She was born near Spades on February 14, 1933 the daughter of Edward and Leora Wuellner Meyer. She was married to Mervin Ahrens on July 25, 1953 and he preceded her in death on May 23rd of this year after 69 years of marriage. Survivors include one son David (Brenda) Ahrens of Batesville; three daughters Melinda Ahrens of Hamilton, Ohio, Cindy (Jim) Simon of Osgood, and Susanne (Dusty) Prewitt of Columbus; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Ernestine Meyer of Plainfield and Sharon Meyer of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Robert, Kenneth, Marvin, and Jim Meyer, and her granddaughter Chelsa Simon.

Mrs. Ahrens was a 1951 graduate of Batesville High School. Earlier in life she had worked for Hillenbrands in Batesville, but her primary occupation was that of a working farm wife, taking care of the children and assisting Mervin on the farm. Marjorie was a partner on the farm with Mervin and they were always seen together. She was one of the hardest working women that God ever put on this earth. She also enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers and she and Mervin enjoyed hosting card parties with friends where they would play cards one Saturday a month at each others homes. Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Adams Lutheran Church where she participated in the Ladies Aid.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 18 at 11am at the Adams Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Booster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the church in care of the funeral home.
