Stanley R. Nay

Mr. Stanley R. Nay, age 81, of Seymour, Indiana formerly of Versailles and Deputy entered this life on June 3, 1938 in Madison, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Samuel R. and Pearl Wilson Nay. He was raised in the Deputy community and attended Deputy United Methodist Church.

Stanley was a 1950 graduate of Deputy High School where he played basketball. He graduated in 1960 from Hanover College with his bachelors in education and later from Indiana University with his masters.

On April 11, 1963 Stanley was united in marriage to Sandra Hooker in Deputy, Indiana. This happy union of nearly fifty years was blessed with two daughters, Alicia and Tobey. Stanley worked as an educator for 36 years; he had served as a teacher, coach, counselor, principal, administrator, and after earning his Specialist Degree from Indiana University, superintendent with the South Ripley School Corporation in Versailles. Stanley was honored by Governor Evan Bayh, with the award of Sagamore of the Wabash in January of 1996. Stanley and Sandra made their home in Versailles for 30 years and had resided in Seymour since 2007. Stanley enjoyed watching sports, spending winters in Destin, playing golf, reading and being with his family, including his cat, Molly. He was a devoted husband, loving dad, brother and friend. Stanley died on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at the Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, Indiana.

A LOVING FAMILY
Stanley will be missed by his loving daughters, Alicia Nay and her husband, Robin Karmolinski of Seymour, Tobey Nay-Tucker and her husband, Chris of Darien, Georgia; his brother, Merrill Nay and his wife, Gayle of Madison; his sisters, Carolyn Henley and her husband, Walt of Greens Fork, Neva Chun and her husband, Merton of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Lavaughn Eads-Miller and her husband, Dave of Franklin; his sisters-in-law, Joyce Ashbrook of Hanover, Shirley Griffith and her husband, Norman of Pearland, Texas; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by father, Samuel R. Nay, died June 29, 1969, mother, Pearl Wilson Nay, died February 9, 1998, his brother, Alan Nay, died June 1, 1994, his sister, Marjorie Anne Nay, died April 6, 1937, his brothers in law, Stephen D. Eads, died November 21, 2000 and Russell Ashbrook, died September 20, 2009, wife of nearly 50 years, Sandra Hooker Nay, died January 30, 2013.

FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services were conducted Monday, December 23, by Bro. Bob Hicks at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive Madison, Indiana. Interment followed in the Springdale Cemetery, 600 West Fifth Street in Madison, Indiana.
