William B. Watts

William B. Watts, 82, of Allen’s Crossing near Osgood passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 at his home. He was born at Hallie in Letcher County, Kentucky on February 9, 1937, the son of Pearl and Cinda Smith Watts. 

Survivors include three daughters Phyllis Watts and Lisa Johnson both of Norwood, Ohio, and Billie Watts of Madison; one stepdaughter Kathy (AJ) Riley of Napoleon; eight  grandchildren; six sisters Sue (Darrell) Gross of Florence, Kentucky, Sharon (Bill) Back of Canaan, Juanita (Bob) Adams of Shelbyville, Christina Wooten of Kentucky, Velma Hamilton of Moorhead, Kentucky, and Glenna (Tom) Sunn of LaPorte. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty DeBurger Watts, his son Randy, daughter Brenda, brothers Fred, Pearl Jr., Jay, Dee Lawrence, Billie, and Bub; he was also preceded in death by his sisters Virgie Whitaker, Effie Campbell, and Emma Jean Leach. 

Mr. Watts was a 40 year employee of Reliance Electric in Madison where he worked as a tow motor operator, retiring in 1997. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing, and tending to his dogs, guineas, and chickens. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9 at 12 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Randy Thieman, minister of the Versailles Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m. Memorials may be given to the Jefferson County Humane Society or the Shelby Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
