Market extended for a week

Main Street Versailles has announced that Market on the Square will be going for an extra week this year which means it will be extended until September 26.
This is one day you won’t want to miss. They are planning to have “Pumpkin Show Saturday on that day with lots of giveaways and activities. Organizers came up with this idea since the Versailles Pumpkin Show had to be canceled due to COVID-19.


Newman receives 20-year sentence for drug dealing

Ricky Newman, 61, will be spending the next 20 years in prison on the count of Conspiracy to Commit Dealing Methamphetamine, a Level 2 Felony.
According to court records, Newman has been incarcerated since March 8, 2019, and will receive credit time in the amount of 537 actual days, plus 179 days good time credit for a total of 716 days.


Traffic halted as car, truck collide

According to information from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, a Nissan passenger car and Chevy pick-up truck collided at the intersection of US 421 and US 50 last Wednesday, August 26.
